First off, I know what you’re thinking – How do I pronounce my last name? The IPA pronunciation is “sədɔvɪj” but I tell everybody it’s “sado-vee” because that seems to roll off the tongue easier.

I come from a family of eastern-european immigrants. Half of my family is Romanian 🇷🇴, and the other half is Ukrainian 🇺🇦. I spent most of my life around the Romanian side, which gave me an ear for the language, but almost no usable vocabulary, so in January 2025 I started learning it properly.

I graduated with an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Science before graduating high-school, and finished my Computer Science degree at Western Governors University in December 2025.

language learning

Romanian is the one I’ve put the most into. Starting from zero, I’m past 16,000 known words in LingQ and somewhere around upper intermediate. Russian is what I’m working through now, on the same routine. Beyond that I’ll pick up random phrases in whatever crosses my path; usually chasing the pronunciation more than the vocabulary. There’s a specific satisfaction for me in landing a sound English doesn’t have.

Three Intel NUCs running Talos Linux as a Kubernetes cluster, with every manifest in git and ArgoCD reconciling it. The network is all Unifi (written in terraform too, so VLANs and firewall policy are all declarative).

cooking

My newest hobby and the one I’m worst at. The format that finally stuck is one prep day, then a week of dinners that need no decisions. The recipes are plain-text Cooklang files in git, and I use the cook cli to turn each week’s menu into a shopping list to minimize waste.
